This region along the South-western coast of England in particular offers much quietness and relaxation. Even though bigger towns can easily be reached from here, its true sights are the gentle lush green hills, the deep blue sea, the clean beaches and impressive cliffs.
A PICTURESQUE COUNTY
East Budleigh is a small village in the county of Devon in the southwest of England, about 15 kilometres from Exeter. While the county is known for its picturesque coastal towns, it is also known for the Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks. East Budleigh itself is the acclaimed birthplace of Sir Walter Raleigh, a well-known English navigator, explorer and writer as well as courtier for Queen Elizabeth I. Next to the traditional and new economic sectors, tourism has become an important cornerstone for the economy of the region. Devon’s administrative department has put in a considerable amount of effort into preserving the attractive character of the landscape and the coastal towns. The main draw for tourism in the area is the so-called “English Riviera”, which includes the towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. The «Jurassic Coast» is also very impressive. The cliffs that have survived millions of years have become a UNESCO world heritage site.
