The Torquay International School was founded in 1972 and is a five-minute walk from the town centre. The school has an average of between 60 and 100 students from all over the globe. This school is professionally-run with experienced and well-trained teaching staff that attend in-house professional development courses on a regular basis. Due to the small class sizes, language instruction can be more individually tailored to the students’ needs. The students therefore usually get more out of the instruction than otherwise possible, above all in the development of their speaking skills. The Victorian style school building, with its 20 well-equipped classrooms, is surrounded by a large garden in which students can spend time during class breaks, especially during sunny weather, but also play badminton and volleyball, and have barbeques together.
