The French Riviera offers so much to visitors: miles of sandy beaches, crystal clear water, trendy cities and sleepy villages. Due to Nice's seaside location, it is one of the region’s most exclusive places.
CENTRE OF CÔTE D’AZUR
The city of Nice, which has a unique location at the Côte d’Azur on the Bay des Agnes, (the angels’ bay) has become a world-renowned spa destination and centre of the French Riviera. Carnival, May celebrations, tennis tournaments and jazz festivals are only some of the events which Nice hosts. It also has an opera, several theatres, casinos and museums, like the Chagall and the Matisse museums. In the old part of town – the historic centre – you find the 1650 baroque cathedral Sainte-Réparate, the former Palais Lascaris from the 17th century and the Promenade des Anglais. The historic centre beckons visitors to spend time strolling around and shopping. Nice is a perfect base for a variety of recreational pursuits. Other cities enjoyed by tourists, like Cannes or Monte Carlo, are close by and easy to reach from Nice. Picturesque villages in the country and the iconic beauty of Provence are definitively within easy reach and make for wonderful excursions from Nice.
