For those in search of sea, French flair, a beautiful old town and not too much excitement, Villefranche is the place to go. At the weekly markets you will find local delicacies before taking a wonderfully relaxing stroll through the colourful parks.
SMALL AND COZY
Villefranche is a small, picturesque port city between Nice and Monte Carlo. Artists, water sport enthusiasts and tourists love this pretty town with its historic buildings, the harbour, the many pleasant restaurants, its coastal location and mild climate. The craggy bays near Villefranche and the neighbouring promontory of Saint Jean/Cap Ferrat offer swimming and places for casual strolling. If you are up to more lively activities, you can take scheduled buses until 8 pm, connecting Villefranche and Nice, which is only four kilometres away. Monte Carlo, Menton, Antibes or Cannes can be easily reached as well. For longer excursions there are the beautiful landscapes of the hinterland, the Cote d’Azur, the many historic old towns, or the nearby coastal Italian cities of Ventimiglia or San Remo. For an extended weekend you can make it to the island of Corsica which, depending on the season, is serviced by ferry from Nice.
