Dublin is one of Europe’s oldest cities, former European Capital of Culture and the epitome of Ireland. Nowhere else on the island, Ireland’s economic boom has left more traces. Despite a high level of building and business activity, the city was able to maintain its unspoilt charm.
MUNDANE AND VENERABLE
Posh shopping streets, trendy old parts of town and modern skyscrapers – that’s Dublin. Nice parks, ancient castles and cathedrals as well as historic libraries and museums – that’s Ireland’s metropolis too. If you stroll along the river Liffey, you can discover wonderful places on both sides of the waterfront and despite the tranquillity, you can feel the vibrations of the city. «Baile Atha Cliath» that’s the town’s Gaelic name. The weather in Dublin is not as black as it is painted. Mild winters and pleasant summers are characteristic and compared to the rest of the country it only gets half as much rain.
